Product schema markup: what it does for a store
Schema markup is a way to tell a search engine exactly what is on the page: the product name, price, availability, rating. Without it, the search engine can only guess.
+CTR
stars and price in search results
Why
What changes with markup
The snippet becomes informative. Price, availability and rating stars appear in search results – the page stands out among competitors.
Click-through rate grows. A rich snippet attracts more clicks at the same position.
The data reaches other services. Product aggregators and AI systems take their information from structured data.
Minimum
Which fields you need
🏷
Name and description
They must match what the user sees on the page.
💰
Price and currency
The current price, the same as on the product card. A mismatch is a reason for the markup to be ignored.
📦
Availability
In stock, on order or out of stock – this matters for product search results.
⭐
Rating and reviews
Only if the reviews are actually on the page. Fake ones are a reason for penalties.
Mistakes
What stops markup from working
The data does not match the page. The markup shows one price and the screen another – the search engine ignores such markup.
Rating without reviews. Showing "4.9 out of 5" when there are no reviews is a direct path to manual penalties.
Syntax errors. One extra comma breaks the whole block. Check the markup in the official validator after implementation.
