What to prepare before launching a store: an owner's checklist
Launch deadlines slip because of waiting for materials, far more often than because of complex work. Here is what to collect before development starts.
1
person with the final say
Block 1
Products and data
A price list in a spreadsheet. Name, SKU, price, availability, category, specifications. The format matters little – completeness is what counts.
Photos. At least one per product, ideally on the same background. Phone shots in daylight are better than no photos at all.
Descriptions. At least for the best-selling items. Descriptions copied from the supplier are better than empty fields, though they get rewritten later.
Product variants. If there are sizes, colors or pack sizes, decide right away how they link to each other within one product card.
Block 2
Business decisions
Delivery. Which carriers you connect, who pays, the order amount for free delivery, and whether there is in-store pickup and local delivery in your city.
Payment. Online, cash on delivery, installments, invoices for companies – which of these you need.
Returns. The period, the conditions, who pays for return shipping. Without this, Shopping ads will fail moderation.
Every unapproved decision means a pause in the work and one more chat message in place of a finished page.
Block 3
Brand, contacts, access
🎨
Brand
A vector or high-quality logo, plus brand colors if you have them.
📞
Contacts
Phone numbers, e-mail, messengers, address, business hours, company details for the legal pages.
🔑
Access
The domain registered to your e-mail. Access to the Google account and to the old site if the store is moving.
Block 4
The most underrated item
Who makes the decisions. When three people with different tastes approve the mockup, the project stalls for weeks. Pick one person with the authority to say "yes".
