How long it takes to build an online store: real timelines by stage

"We'll do it in 3 days" and "development takes 6 months or more" – both extremes exist on the market, and both should be a red flag. We break down what makes up the launch timeline and what really stretches it.

14-21
days – a healthy turnkey timeline
4
stages that run one after another
#1
cause of delays – content from the owner

Day by day

What makes up the launch timeline

1-2

Brief and structure – 1-2 days

Niche and demand analysis, category design, technical start: domain, platform, SSL. The most underestimated stage – structural mistakes are the most expensive to fix later.

3-7

Design and content – 4-5 days

Customizing the home page and the product page, banners, catalog import from the supplier's file, manual polishing of top products. In parallel – SEO templates for meta tags.

8-10

Integrations – 2-3 days

Payments, Nova Poshta, Telegram notifications, analytics and the pixel. A must – a test order from the cart all the way to the SMS.

11-14

Merchant Center and ads – 3-4 days

Policy pages that meet Google's requirements, feed submission, review, campaign setup. Day 14 – the store is selling.

Why it can take longer

What really stretches the timeline

📷

Content from the owner

Photos, logo, texts "will be ready tomorrow" – for three weeks straight. Solution: start with what you have and improve it after launch.

🎨

Endless design revisions

"Move it 2 pixels" over and over – a month gone. Solution: collect revisions in batches for each interim review instead of sending one a day.

🗂️

A catalog in chaos

The price list in a notebook, photos in Viber, prices "in your head". One proper supplier file saves a week of manual work.

Red flags

When a timeline should make you wary

⚡

"We'll do it in 2-3 days"

In that time, the only realistic option is to slap a template on with no demand-based structure, no integrations and no ad preparation. All of that gets finished later – for extra money.

🐌

"Development takes 4-6 months or more"

For a typical store, this means either custom-coded development that will be outdated by release, or a conveyor belt where your project sits in a queue. Half a year without sales is a lost season and a head start for your competitors.

Your store can be ready in 2 weeks

14 days – a proven process with clear stages and interim reviews. We need 2-3 hours of your time for the brief and approvals – we do the rest.
