Integration with Apple Pay and Google Pay for a website and online store
Apple Pay and Google Pay integration adds wallet buttons to the payment page, and the customer confirms the payment with a fingerprint, Face ID or PIN without entering a card number. Wallets work through the store's payment service, so we first check what exactly it supports. We verify the wallet and payment service terms before work begins.
- wallet buttons in the cart and on the checkout page;
- payment confirmation on a smartphone in a few taps;
- the button shown only on devices and in browsers that support it;
- domain verification in the payment service account;
- payment status passed to the order automatically;
- testing on real devices before launch.
How customers pay with wallets and why a store should connect them
Many customers pay for orders from a smartphone where their card is already saved in a wallet. They search for apple pay on website or google pay online store because paying with a wallet is faster than entering card details manually. For the store, it means a shorter path from cart to payment.
Apple Pay and Google Pay work through the store's payment service: it receives the card token from the wallet and processes the payment. That is why our first step is to check whether your payment service supports wallets on your plan.
What Apple Pay and Google Pay integration includes
- wallet activation in the payment service account;
- website domain verification, if the service requires it;
- payment buttons in the cart and on the checkout page;
- the button shown only where the device and browser support it;
- passing the amount, currency and order number to the payment;
- payment status returned to the order and an email to the customer;
- test payments on an iPhone and an Android smartphone.
On Horoshop we check whether the payment service and the current platform version allow wallets in the cart; on WordPress and custom sites we connect them through a module or the service API. The buttons require HTTPS across the entire site.
How we work
- we find out which payment service is connected and what it supports;
- we request access to the service account and the store details for activation;
- we enable the wallets and verify the domain;
- we check the buttons on iPhone, Android and desktop browsers;
- we run test payments and launch on the live site.
The duration depends on how quickly the payment service activates wallets for your store; we give an estimate during the consultation.
How much Apple Pay and Google Pay integration costs
We calculate the integration price after a free consultation and audit, because it depends on the payment service, the platform and the number of payment methods. We fix everything in a fixed-price contract; the domain and admin panel belong to you. For a new store we offer ready-made turnkey online stores or a corporate website from $1,350. You can send questions about the connection via the Contacts page. We check the Apple, Google and payment service terms before work begins.
Questions and answers
Do Apple Pay and Google Pay work on all devices?
The button appears on devices and in browsers that support the corresponding wallet. That is why we show it conditionally and keep regular card payment for other visitors.
Do you need a separate contract with Apple or Google?
As a rule, wallets are connected through the payment service, so the contract is signed with it. We clarify the exact procedure and requirements with the service before starting.
Can payment be tested before launch?
Yes, we run test payments on an iPhone and an Android smartphone in the payment service's test mode, if it offers one, and only then make the buttons available to customers.
What about refunds for wallet payments?
Refunds go through the payment service to the card used to pay for the order. A manager initiates the refund in the service account; the timing is set by the customer's bank.
